First Skiing of the Season

On Saturday, during our Thanksgiving trip some of the group went to Bretton Woods for some early skiing. Between the snow machines and fresh stuff from above, it was quite good.

This is the first result of a new Strobist setup. I shotthe HVL-F42AM into an umbrella setup camera left. She seemed to be fascinated with the the light stand that she was bumping into. This shot was not cropped at all and I think I nailed the framing, except for the background.

Cooper's Hawk

I was getting ready to take Sophie to school when I noticed a bird on our backyard tree. He was quite large and looked like a hawk. Out came the A100 with my longest lens and I clicked away. This fellow was not worried at all, as I was about 10 feet away from him. I posted an image on the DPReview website with a call for an ID and received a response within minutes. It is a Cooper's Hawk.

Today I thought I would take a different type of "Sophie" image. This one is of her vitamins that she takes daily. She has a cocktail mixed for especially to try and aid in her vitamin deficiency. It has seemed to help her as evident in her progress over the year plus that she has been on them.

Today no therapists came, so Miss Sarah (big sister) worked with Sophie. Sarah has watched the pros do it for so long that she does a great job when stepping in.

She did a good job on the walker today. There were some nice steps that she did on her own. Here, she was walking right towards the camera.

I was not happy with the harsh lighting on this shot, but am happy that there is no flash reflection on the glasses.

I really like the expression on her case here. I sat her on the couch, but of course by the time I picked up the camera, she scooted down. She is a tough one all right! Notice the high ISO on this? I forgot to check the setting. No wonder some of my other shots were overexposed.
